U.S. v. Decarlos Rodgers
Our client was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm. Although three police officers testified that they removed a firearm from his pocket, a federal jury returned a verdict of not guilty.
Thomas David Jordan v. Norfolk Southern Railroad
Our 57-year-old client was working between tracks and suffered severe injuries when a train struck him. After a three-week trial, the jury returned a $5 million verdict for our client.
State of Tennessee v. Andrew Hennings
The state of Tennessee charged our client with rape of a child. Despite a 22-page confession, a jury found the client not guilty on all counts.
Gregory v. Shelby County, Tennessee
An inmate assaulted and killed another inmate. A deputy jailer’s deliberate act made the attack possible. In a civil rights action we filed for the deceased inmate’s family, they were awarded $750,000 in compensatory damages and $2.2 million in punitive damages.
Hutchins v. Burlington Northern
A railroad employee fell from an overpass, rendering him permanently disabled. A Shelby County jury determined that the railroad had failed to safely maintain the overpass and returned a $2 million verdict in favor of our clients, the employee’s family.
Mark Northcutt v. ServiceMaster
Our client, an airline pilot, suffered permanent damage after slipping on a substance on the floor of an airport lounge. Airline employees had called ServiceMaster numerous times to clean the spill, but they had failed to appear. A Shelby County jury returned a $1.2 million verdict against ServiceMaster in favor of our client.
Conseco v. Costello
Our three clients were beneficiaries of life insurance policies taken out by their mother. The insurance company refused to pay the policies. A federal jury in Shelby County returned verdicts for our clients, assessing the full statutory bad faith penalty on each policy for a total recovery of $411,000.
Perkins v. Allstate Insurance Company
Our client was accused of insurance fraud for arranging the destruction of his own pickup truck. A Shelby County jury exonerated him and awarded damages.
Holt v. City of Memphis
Our clients’ relative died because paramedics negligently failed to transport her to the hospital. In a wrongful death claim we filed against the City of Memphis, a Shelby County judge returned a $78,000 verdict in favor of our clients.
